Pelvic Health and Chronic Overlapping Pain Conditions with Corina Avni (PhD Candidate)
Pelvic Health and Chronic Overlapping Pain Conditions with Corina Avni (PhD Candidate)
2 hours
Overview
Clinically, why does one patient have urinary urgency, but another has urinary urgency, constipation, AND headaches (or another overlapping pain condition)…..and the second patient reports that their symptoms are usually aggravated by stress & anxiety? Corina is actively involved in collecting massive amounts of data to answer these questions. Her findings? The more comorbidities that a patient has, the more likely their system is to be dysregulated. Chronic pelvic pain has emerged as a central feature in chronic overlapping pain conditions. In other words, it is very common for people suffering from chronic pelvic pain to have dysregulated systems. If that is the case, then lifestyle interventions should be at the top of our go-to strategies when addressing pelvic pain.
